Random Thoughts

Al Quaeda is no longer a group as we understand it, yet it is. Al Quaeda exists as a group of course, and according to the National Intelligence Estimate, is now stronger than on the events of September the Eleventh; it also exists in a far more dangerous form however. It exists as an ideology.

This is an ideology aimed against the percieved immorality and imperialism of the West, one that offers a message of "freedom" and "Salvation". We are not winning this so called "War on Terror" because we do not offer such things as eternal salvation as a part of our ideological package in the "fight for hearts and minds".

In many of the areas where this ideology is taking root, we are foreigners, another strike against us. If you have someone preaching that it is good to die for God, someone you have known all your life, would you not be more likely to listen to that person, than say, a person from a nation we have strained relations with, who tells you that this person you've known all your life is wrong? I doubt it...
