Deserter had no way to object to war, courts told.
So the gist of the story is that a coward signed up for military service, and now doesn't want to serve his country anymore. He's crying "war crimes" to a Canadian court, an allegation of which he has no evidence, plus he denies participating in them, so his own testimony is therefore void to anyone with a bit of common sense. I loved the comments however on how to paraphrase 'we all know about America being war crime happy, look at Mai Lai'.
So in the spirit of Canadians bashing America, I give you two items of Canadian war crimes I can think of off the top of my head:
1. The CEF used poison gas on Germans in WW1. (Sure everyone was doing it, it's still an atrocity.)
2. 1/4th of RAF Bomber Command in WW2 was Canadian, among the items on its resume is the fire bombing of Dresden. For those unfamiliar, the "good guys" basically left Dresden alone so that more civilians would flee there from other German cities. Then on the night of (insert) killed 120,000 civilians, whose only crime was trying to flee the killing, in a single night.
America has probably comitted war crimes during this war, but Canada, has no place to lecture. It's the pot calling the kettle black.
