A friend once told me that she could never be a Protestant having received the Eucharist and knowing what it was; she would have to become Pagan again if she left the Catholic faith. At the time, I was a Baptist, so I didn't really understand what she said.
This once again came to me last night, during the Mass for All Saints Day. As we read about death and dying, my thanatophobia was flaring. I tried to stay calm, and reassure myself. My reassurances always returned to the Eucharist.
I understand now, what she meant. I couldn't become a Protestant again, knowing what I know now about His Body and Blood.
