Changes

I'm home until Monday for the June birthday parties, and it seems in this brief year I've already been gone, so much has changed in my hometown. The drug trade, from local news, has been expanding even worse. The Relay for Life had maybe a third of the participant groups it did last year. This woman who always made my ex jealous in undergrad has started talking to me again out of the blue.

And I walked into the mall today, and found that my bookstore had "STORE CLOSING" signs. I've gone to that bookstore my entire life, and I'm not merely being dramatic by stating that. My parents have been taking me to it, first as Waldenbooks and then as Borders, from when I was only a few weeks old. Tomorrow is my twenty-fifth birthday, and after more than a quarter century of going there, it's going to be gone.

I had more to say, but storms...
