Local news had a story. It seems Senator Byrd got a letter from a constituent and looked into it. A woman lost her husband in Afghanistan, and never got the benefits. It turns out, after the Senator took it to Donald Rumsfeld himself, that the woman had been lost in the paperwork at the Pentagon. Needless to say, she has gotten her benefits. Go Byrd!
Also, it seems, that WDTV is showing us how to make a Meth Lab. Well, they were doing a story on Meth, and showed a fully assembled lab...all the ingredients, and had been explaining different ones earlier on. It's not the "Liberal Media" nor the "Conservative Media" but the "Insane Stupidity Running Rampant Media".
So we were watching the Bush Press Conference as a family. Some memorable moments included the time tabling (or lack thereof) for withdraw.
Dad: Well you shouldn't expect him to have one...
Me: Well one person once said there was no viable exit strategy...and that a ground invasion and occupation would incur incalcuable human and political costs.
Dad: What Clinton News Networker said that?!
Me: George Herbert Walker Bush in his memoirs.
Another fun part was when dad got on me for criticising Bush, saying it was unpatriotic of me.
Him ending his rant: You shouldn't criticise the war as an American citizen. It's unpatriotic and possibly treasonous to criticize the war.
Me: To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.
Him: That's just Liberal garbage.
Me: No, it's President Theodore Roosevelt actually...
Also can't stand how Mom and Dad keep going on to anyone who asks/even infers asking, that they voted Bush but I voted Kerry. I didn't vote Kerry. I voted Badnarik, aka the Libertarian. A lovely mix of Republican economic policies and Democrat foreign policies.
