Random Thoughts

The UK has begun a project for a stealth unmanned drone, named after the Celtic God of the Thunder, Taranis.

I'm divided on this, and unmanned fighters and bombers in general... I see why it would be good to remove humans from danger, however, removing humans from war removes the personal connection. Without that connection, we soon forget how terrible it can be, and when we forget that, we don't hesitate as much to inflict suffering wrongly. The most famous general of the Confederacy, Robert E. Lee once said, "It is well that war is so terrible -- lest we should grow too fond of it." I do believe he was quite correct.

One positive thing I can say...their naming system rocks compared to ours. Our non-helicopter aircraft are named after birds, naming it after a God of Thunder brings about mental imagery of smiting.

Do I believe that war is evil and unnecessary? Hardly. I just fear that we are too fond of it in this modern age.

I need to get back to school, to a place where I can just sit and think, and read the Bible, and walk amongst the woodlands.
