On Mercy

It's weird. Growing up, I was not really taught much on the subject of mercy. It was quite simply that if you knew and loved Christ, you would go to Heaven, and if you didn't, then you would be going straight to Hell.

I can recall growing up in my Baptist church, we would discuss the Rapture one day, something else I don't believe completely in any more. "Until that last undiscovered tribe in the Amazon or somewhere hears about Christ, the Rapture won't happen. That's why evangelism is so important."

However in the Catholic Church, I've found a place that doesn't condemn a person for their own ignorance. It's startling in a way, given what I was taught about Catholicism growing up. But just another reminder that I've found my home.
