Last night when I went to bed, it never hit me really, but today is the day that the talented Audrey Assad's first album came out on iTunes. A dear friend introduced me to her work by pointing out that she is the back up singer for Matt Maher, another great artist I'd highly recommend you try if you haven't before.
Audrey is one of my fellow converts to the faith, coming from a Brethren non-denominational Christian Church. Her voice is entirely beautiful, and her lyrics are absolutely astounding. I definitely recommend anyone who wants to listen to a beautiful album buy this one, "The House You're Building". ($7.99 on iTunes.)
After listening through this wonderful album, I have to say that it is not only the most beautiful thing I've listened to all year, but it is the story of struggle and faith. It's a majestic entreaty of God's love for us, that we will not be left to wander without Him as long as we allow His Sacred Heart to beat within us. More than anything, this album is sung to God, not about Him, and as songs like "Come Clean" show, it's about becoming your own person in Christ.
Edit: Here's an awesome interview with her.
